Privacy policy

Serenpool is a pool maintenance app developed by Claudio Dall'Ara, an independent developer based in Italy ("I"). Contact: [email protected] (mail is forwarded to my personal inbox by Cloudflare Email Routing).

In short

• The app collects no personal data and has no accounts.
• Your pool readings, log and reminders stay on your phone.
• No ads and no tracking in the app.
• The Pro purchase is handled by Google Play: I never see your payment details.

What data the app handles

The app stores only on your device: your pools (name, volume, shape, filter and product type), the readings you enter and the products you mark as added, reminders and settings (language, Pro status).

This data is not sent to me or to third parties. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes it. You can export it to a backup file, which stays wherever you choose to keep it.

Purchases

Pro is bought through Google Play, which processes payment data under its own privacy policy. The app only receives confirmation from Google that the purchase is valid. To verify it, the app contacts a small service on my website, which receives the purchase token issued by Google and stores no personal data.

Notifications

Notifications are optional and start only if you turn them on: the app asks for the phone's permission after you tap "Turn on notifications".

To deliver them even when the app is closed, the app sends a service of mine on Cloudflare (push.serenpool.com) only: the notification address your phone gets from Google's push service (or Apple's, Mozilla's, Microsoft's), a random code created by the app to recognise the phone without an account, and the list of reminders for the next 45 days as time, reminder code and dose numbers (for example "390 mL"). No names, no water readings, no location: the phone writes the notification text. The content is encrypted all the way to the phone.

Each reminder is deleted as soon as it is sent. If you turn notifications off, or if the push service says the address is no longer valid, the service deletes address and reminders at once. The notification address is pseudonymous data: we process it only to send you the reminders you asked for (legal basis: your request). Reminders added to your phone calendar stay only in your calendar.

The website (not the app) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits anonymously and in aggregate, without cookies and without identifying you. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which may process visitors' IP addresses for technical and security reasons.

Testing and Founders programme

If you take part in the test before launch, you join a Google group (serenpool-beta) and the Google Play test with your Google account: Google handles this data under its own policy. If you are a Founder you may, if you wish, fill in a mid-test check and a final report on Google Forms: your answers and the email address you give are used only to improve the app and to send you the lifetime Pro code, are never used for advertising, and are deleted within 12 months of the end of the programme.

Your rights

Since the app collects no personal data, I usually hold nothing to show you or delete. You can write to me at the address above with any question, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Italy: garanteprivacy.it).

Children

The app is suitable for everyone and collects no data from anyone, children included.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with its update date.
